The programme may change because of wild animals, for example wild elephants.
This is outside our control.
Hotel pick-up — the van collects everyone from their accommodation.
Arrival at the Buddhist temple of Bang Thong, one of the oldest in Krabi province, built around 1940.
A bamboo raft ride along the Khlong Sok river, with tall limestone mountains on both sides.
We stop for coffee brewed in bamboo, feed the fish by the Buddhist temple, and then visit the provincial temple.
On to the hotel, check in and free time.
A good Thai dinner (meal 1).
Good morning from the hotel — a lovely place in the jungle with a fine atmosphere. The morning views are worth getting the camera out for.
Breakfast (meal 2).
Arrival at the Cheow Lan Dam pier in Surat Thani province.
A good lunch (meal 3) at a raft house, with swimming, kayaking and anything else you fancy.
On by longtail boat. A walk through the jungle to see the rare plants and wildlife of Khlong Saeng — with luck, hornbills, monkeys or other animals. Walking the raft lets you take in the emerald green of the lake and the limestone peaks rising into the sky. About 10 minutes on is the entrance to the Coral Cave. Inside are remarkable stalactites and stalagmites shaped like coral, between 250 and 400 million years old.
This is believed to have been an ancient sea. The conditions inside are perfect and the cave itself is very clean.
Back to the pier, and a safe ride to the hotel.
